Collaborative Working

A lot of people struggle to find a resolution when it comes to issues between them and a partner, but collaborative working could be what is needed. A lot of people make the mistake of assuming that going to court is the only way to reach an agreement when they are at odds with a partner, but collaborative working offers a beneficial alternative and helps to avoid court – and the cost associated with going to court – altogether.

The collaborative working practice involves resolving issues between partners through negotiation. This is done during a series of meetings with each other and with both partners’ solicitors. The only correspondence is to organise necessary administrative matters, and the process focuses on achieving a solution effectively and efficiently. The aim of collaborative working is to find a resolution that is fair to both partners whilst protecting the children, and to help everyone to move forward in their lives.

The Benefits of Collaborative Working
There are a number of benefits that come with collaborative working, which is why it’s the practice of choice for many couples and families. The process is completely non-confrontational, meaning it has the advantage of maintaining good relationships between both parents and any children involved. This is achievable because collaborative working focuses largely on the mutual respect for a working relationship between both partners in the future. Throughout the collaborative working process, maintaining a working relationship for the future is of utmost importance. Another benefit is that it avoids the stress and high costs that often come with court proceedings. Generally, the collaborative working process avoids a lot of the heartache that comes with going through the courts.
